Gulf Shores Spring Break for College Kids

So you want an affordable college spring break on the beach. Gulf Shores, Alabama is the ultimate destination for young spring breakers. Hundreds of Gulf Shores rentals line the beach. And, dividing the cost per week up by person makes the trip extremely affordable. There is beach activity, great seafood, fun night life, and wonderful weather. Keep reading to learn how to make your Gulf Shores spring break a success.

Pick and book a rental as early as September. The homes on the beach book quickly. The condos off the beach do not book as early. Contact a rental company. I have always used Meyer Real Estate. They have the most properties and do a great job. Check out their website and you can see the homes and condos in pictures and get pricing estimates.

In my opinion, if you have eight or more people who want to go, booking a house is worth it. I have paid $180 for a week in a twelve-person house and $245 for a week in a twenty-two person mansion. This is an awesome deal and the more people, the more fun. Plus, from the houses, you walk out the back door onto the beach.

Once you get a house booked and a group ready to rage, you need to get other friends from your college on-board to make for a real "Spring Break Experience." From person experience, if you get a house of 15-20 people together, other groups from your college will hear about what a good deal you got and most likely book along the beach as well. Before you know it, twenty houses on the Gulf Shores will be filled with hundreds of college kids from your area. This is what happened to us last year. 200+ people I knew booked Gulf Shores from my college! And, there are tons of students from other colleges too. It is fun to hop from house party to house party along the beach.

I should not have to tell you what to do once you get there. The activities will take care of themselves. But, a few things to note:

• You must hit Pink Pony Pub. They have decent seafood during the day, but the real party begins after 9pm when it turns into a karaoke bar. There are usually some locals there too which only adds to the hilarity. Some of the most best nights of my life took place at the "Pink Pony." 
• Trying seafood is a must. Most of the places are pretty good. We really enjoyed Doc's Seafood Shack in particular.
• Someone bring a video camera. About 10-15 "epic" stories per day are going to happen when you have nothing to do but drink and lay on the beach all day with all your friends. Someone's gotta play Dad and videotape. We did this last trip and all watched the footage together on the last night. You will be glad the memories are captured, trust me.
• Someone else bring a volleyball net. You'll attract visitors, make new friends, and having something active to do. We played 3-4 hours per day.
  
• Don't be stupid. I know plenty of people who have been arrested. The police are out looking for dumb spring-breakers. You're on vacation- just pay for a cab for goodness' sake!
